THE KEN COLYER TRUST NEW ORLEANS JAZZ BAND

The tunes, many with strong Colyer associations include:- Collegiate, Dusty Rag, My Blue Heaven, 1919 March, Carolina Moon, Harlem Rag, The Lady Is A Tramp, Postman's Lament, If Ever I Cease To Love, Yearning, Savoy Blues. THE WABASH JAZZMEN
"Bye And Bye"
This is the 7th album by the Wabash Jazzmen and in many ways I think it's their best. The line-up is changed slightly from their last two CDs - Ged Hone cornet, Mike Pembroke tb, Mike Hayler cl & tenor sax, Mark Challinor bjo and Howard Worthington bs. This is the band's first studio recording but that in no way impairs their natural driving swinging style. The tunes include:- Algiers Strut, Bye And Bye, At A Georgia Camp Meeting, Make Me A Pallet On The Floor, I'm Going Home To See My Lord, Avalon, Oh You Beautiful Doll, Royal Telephone, Precious Lord Take My Hand, Pontchartrain Blues, Said I Wasn't Gonna Tell Nobody, Goodnight Sweet Prince, Over In The Gloryland, I'll Always Be In Love With You, Down In Honky Tonk Town. WALLY FAWKES AND THE HIGHGATE CRASHERS
"Jazzers Of The World Unite"
The Highgate Crashers are actually a trio consisting of Wally Fawkes cl, Doug Murray pno and Eddie Taylor dms. The band name derives from the recording venue in Highgate, London. They are joined on 4 tracks by John Keen on trumpet. Wally, in his 80th year, is on fine form. In the sleeve-notes John Chilton says he regards Trog's Blues on this CD as being "the definitive version". (Incidentally there is a bonus of original artwork by Wally on the front cover and some excellent photos in the 8 page booklet). The other tunes include:- It Had To be You, Day Dream, Spain, Don't You Leave Me Here, Find The Lady, Jelly Bean Blues, On The Alamo, Where Folly Walks, Rent Party Blues, Beale St Blues, Rose Room, Tishomingo Blues, Posy.
