Catalogue Note:
Hearing and recording this band at last year's Bude Festival was, for me, one of the highlights of the
Festival. Looking at the line-up from the programme I was, initially, a bit suspicious, having never heard
a band with banjo and guitar. But the session was a delight, and so, I think, is their first CD. The
line-up is Norman Thatcher cornet; Phil Wall clarinet, alto sax; Rob Gribble baritone and tenor saxes,
trombone, vocals; Sam Sims guitar, mandolin; Sarah Thatcher banjo, guitar; Vic Partridge double bass; Tony
Quinn percussion. The tunes are:- Gatemouth, Old Fashioned Love, Stock Yards Strut, Blue Hawaii, The Owls
Hoot, After You've Gone, Give Me Your Telephone Number, The Tennessee Waltz, Perdido St Blues, Please Don't
Talk About Me When I'm Gone, Every Tub, Goober Dance, Forty And Tight, Forevermore, Papa Dip, Riverside Blues,
Piggly Wiggly. Referring back to my piece in the last newsletter - live dangerously, be adventurous and
buy this CD - it's great! (73mins)
