The Rae Brothers New Orleans Jazz Band - "In The Good Old Summer Time"
Catalogue Note:
At the 2003 Bude Jazz Festival, where this, the band's seventh CD was recorded, they were rejoined by Ian
Brown on cornet. Ian played with the band from 1995 to 1998 and was on their first CD (PKCD-097). Fans of
the band will know what to expect - relaxed ensemble New Orleans-style music played with great sympathy
and understanding. As Marcel Joy says in the sleeve-note, "They give a new dimension to the idea that
less can be more. Their playing is simple, relaxed and heartfelt." The line-up is Ian Brown cornet;
Mac Rae clarinet; Jim Blenkin trombone; Dave Rae banjo; John Robinson double bass; Kenny Milne drums, and
the tunes are:- We'll Stroll The Lanes Together, You Belong To Me, The Miner's Dream Of Home, Postman's
Lament, If Those Lips Could Only Speak, In The Good Old Summer Time, Midnight Hour Blues, Gypsy Love Song,
All I Do Is Dream Of You, What A Friend We Have In Jesus, The Second Line, South, You Broke Your Promise,
Sweetheart Of All My Dreams, Running Wild, Home Sweet Home. (66mins)
