Catalogue Note:
John Hallam has appeared on P.E.K. Sound with various bands (Jeff Barnhart’s British Band, Roger Heeley Trio, Crazy Rhythm and most recently The Harmony Hounds), but this is our first recording by his own quartet (live at the 2004 Keswick Festival).
If their music had to be put in a pigeon-hole, I suppose it could be called lyrical swinging mainstream jazz. John’s sensitive and fluent clarinet and sax playing is brilliantly supported by Steve Moore (keyboard), Dave Capp (double bass) and Ken Leigh (drums). The tunes are:- Swing That Music, Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans, Love Walked In, I Cover The Waterfront, Lullaby 0f The Leaves, Poor Butterfly, A Weaver Of Dreams, I Got It Bad And That Ain’t Good, Line For Lyons, Pee Wee Blues, Just A-Sittin’ And A-Rockin’, I Surrender Dear, Puttin’ On The Ritz.
