Vo-De-O-Do Orchestra - "My Baby's Wild About The Old V.O."
Catalogue Note:
The Vo-De-O-Do Orchestra was the very first band I ever recorded for a commercial release; back in 1991 I think it was. Now at last here is their first CD. This ten-piece band (plus vocalist) plays the music of the 1920s and ‘30s bands - Duke Ellington, Jelly Roll Morton, Fletcher Henderson etc, as well as some dance band tunes of the era.
The line-up is:- David Jones and John Strangman trumpets; Mike Wilcox, John Birch, Quentin Bryar saxes; Simon Wyld trombone; Gwyn Arch piano; Robin Mosley banjo; Jack Pamplin double bass; Terry Vincent drums; Jan Curd vocals. The tunes are:- Double Check Stomp, Durrants Club House Stomp, My Melancholy Baby, Happy Feet, Honeysuckle Rose, Piccolo Pete. Going Nuts, Echoes Of The Jungle, Grandpa’s Spells, Do Something, Shuffle @ The Station, Stomp Off Let’s Go, My Baby’s Wild About My Old Trombone, Rip Tide, Wa Wa Wa, Big Bad Bill, Ukulele Baby, Beedle Um Bum, I Can’t Get Started.
