The Phil Brown Swingtet -
"Swinging At The Cricks"

Catalogue Note:
“Swinging At The Cricks” This latest CD by Phil’s recently renamed band was recorded in July 2005 at a live pub session near Woking. It was a small pub with a small but enthusiastic audience and I think the live club atmosphere comes across well on the recording. The line-up is the same as PKCD-235 with the notable addition of Ken Ames on guitar. The rhythm section in this band is quite outstandingly good; the Clancy brothers, Andrew on piano and David on drums seem to have a near telepathic understanding of each other. Mike Bennett’s bass playing is solid, accurate and tuneful and Ken Ames’ guitar fills out the sound superbly. The front line of Phil Brown trombone, his son Lester on trumpet and Mark Aston on reeds completes a really first class swinging band. The tunes are:- There Will Never Be Another You, After Supper, I’ve Got The World On A String, Blue ‘n’ Boogie, Love Nest, 9:20 Special, Body And Soul, Rockin’ In Rhythm, Centre Piece, Bernie’s Tune, Watermelon Man, Jordu, Jive At Five, The Hucklebuck. (79 mins)
