"Capturing the best in British Traditional Jazz"

Bob Barton -
"Hot Buttered Fingers"

Catalogue Note:
“Hot Buttered Fingers” Bob Barton is, I think, one of the most prodigiously talented pianists I have ever met. Originally from Birmingham he has lived in Switzerland for the past thirty years and has only occasionally visited England to play. Consequently neither I nor most of the other jazz fans at the Keswick Festival 2005 had even heard of him. It was at John Minnion’s suggestion that I contacted Bob to see if he would like me to record his trio at Keswick - I am very glad indeed that he said yes! The trio - Bob Barton piano and vocals, Annie Hawkins double bass and Jackie Denton drums - had never played together until this session at The Queens Hotel. It is one of the delights of jazz that musicians who have never worked together before can instantly “gel” and create musical magic. The tunes on this excellent CD are :- Caledonia, Makin’ Whoopee, Red Top, Ain’t Misbehavin’, Gee Baby Ain’t I Good To You, Choo Choo Ch’ Boogie, Blue Rondo A La Turk, Ziggin’ An’ Zaggin’,Hot Buttered Fingers, Route 66, Mean To Me, My Next Door Neighbour. (64min)
