"Capturing the best in British Traditional Jazz"

The John Maddocks Jazzmen -
"Behind Closed Doors"

Catalogue Note:
As the title suggests this is another CD recorded without an audience. It is the eighth CD by the band on the P.E.K. Sound label; five of the previous albums were live recordings. In many respects I think this is their best CD; it contains a marvellously varied selection of tunes and there are several variations of line-up from the full 7-piece band on most tracks to a beautiful trio version of Help Me Make It Through The Night. The other tunes are:- Happy Feet Blues, Smiling The Blues Away, Red Man Blues, Mood Indigo, Sweet Fields, I'd Love It, Lovin' Mama Blues, Little Lawrence, When Your Hair Has Turned To Silver, Chimes Blues, Flow Gently Sweet Afton, Georgia On My Mind, Too Busy. The line-up, slightly changed from their last CD, is Peter Wilkinson trumpet; John Maddocks clarinet & alto sax; Tony Farr trombone; Peter Tamplin piano; Keith Dorey guitar & banjo; Stuart Gledhill double bass; Brian Barker drums. (64 mins).
