It's about eight years since there was a new CD by Dave Brennan's superb band, and in all that time there has been only one change of personnel brought about by the retirement, due to ill health, of Dave Vickers. The current line-up is - Dave Pogson trumpet; Brian Kenny clarinet & tenor sax; Mike Taylor trombone; Pete Beaumont piano; Dave Brennan banjo; Mick Kennedy double bass; Terry Kennedy drums. This CD has, for various reasons, been a long time in production; it was recorded (not live) in late 2004 and early 2005 but I hope, like me, you'll agree it was worth the wait. The 15 tunes are:- Once In A While, Beautiful Ohio, The Martinique, Moonglow, Memphis Blues, The Mooche, It Ain't My Fault, Hilarity Rag, All By Myself, Rent Party Blues, Froggie Moore, Melancholy Blues, Jubilee 45, That Old Feeling, Don't Give Up The Ship - and the playing time is a generous (78 mins).
