TIME
Time is weird isn't it? We all know that as we get older time seems to speed up. Actually I believe what is really happening is that we are slowing down. Anyway it seems scarcely credible that it is now three years since Eleanor had her dreadful accident and then passed away just before Christmas 2004. Looking back those three years have gone by very quickly, and indeed it seems no time at all since my little Grandson was born; he will be one year old early in 2008.
On the other hand, just now (late November) Ann is visiting some of her family in Australia (she left at the beginning of the month and is due back early in December) and for me the November days are passing very slowly indeed. As I said, time is weird!

LOOKING AHEAD
Recent recordings have all gone extremely well and, whilst I haven't yet had time to start work on some of them, I think it's safe to say you can expect new CDs by most, and probably all, of the following bands in the coming months:- Excelsior Vintage Jazz Band, Sarah Spencer's Down Home Gang, Brian Carrick with Redwing (excellent Danish Band), The Rae Brothers New Orleans Jazz Band, Brian Carrick's Algiers Stompers, Frog Island Jazz Band and The Silver Leaf Jazz Band.
With my new quota for 2008 of three new CD releases per quarter you can see, if you do the arithmetic, that those recordings will take me through to next June at least.
I am booked to record The Big Bear Stompers in December and The Antique Six Jazzband will be making a new recording probably in February. Plans are in hand to record another CD of Richard Leach's 7 Stars Of Jazz, probably in April. Disccussions have begun with a view to recording another CD by The Ken Colyer Legacy New Orleans Jazz Band later in 2008.
Naturally, with the long list of bands already recorded, or booked to be recorded, (see above) I am not actively seeking more recordings at present, although I expect to record some bands at the Keswick Jazz Festival in May.
It seems strange, in the gloom of November, to be thinking about Keswick in May 2008. That seems a very long way off! However tickets are already on sale and if you book before mid January you will pay the early-bird price of £89.50 for the full five days of the Festival. That's a real bargain!
Ann and I look forward to meeting some of you at the Keswick or Bude Festivals in 2008.
So now I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Peaceful and Prosperous New Year, with plenty of good jazz, live at clubs or festivals if possible, or on CD in the comfort of your own home.
